The Common Cold
Runny nose, sore throat, yep its Winter again and the common cold is begining to strike once more. Here are some tips on how to recognise, treat and avoid a cold this Winter.
Usual symptoms for a cold include:
Runny or stuffy nose, cough, fatigue, sore throat, slight low fever and a headache. If you'r suffering from any more symptoms such as nausea or a high fever than you may be dealing with the flu, so go seek more help!
Sleep is a number one cure. To try over come a cold, get loads of sleep, drink fluids (water,soup..etc) and avoid sugar, caffeine and alcohol they feed colds plus cause dehydration. Chicken soup is said to help congestion so get some! Also go to you'r local chemist/pharmacist and get paracetamol or any cold medicine.
Avoiding colds is tricky. First of all despite what you'r mom told you, some say colds are actually not caused by cold weather. Although colds most often accure during harsh weather eg. Winter, its actually the fact were inside more that is said to cause colds. We stay inside with other people and germs easily spread. Especially during work, school or college were a number of people are in one room. To avoid a cold, keep your distance from other people with colds and don't touch your nose or mouth, this is how germs from your hands spread. Its difficult to dodge a cold, eat your fruit and veg, get sleep and hope that this Winter it won't be you.
